Death of a prisoner in Tavaksae: This Case Has Been Taken Under Control by the Ombudsman

The case of the death of prisoner M.T., who was serving his sentence in Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 7 in Tavaksae on February 16 of this year, has also been taken under control by the Ombudsman.

According to the available information, on 11th February approximately at 16:10, prisoner M.T. was engaged in work to improve the old cafeteria building on the colony’s premises. During the collapse of a wall, due to carelessness, a part of it fell on the prisoner, by causing him serious bodily injuries.

This incident was examined on-site by the staff of the Ombudsman’s Office and the regional representative for the Tashkent region. In addition, the Ombudsman’s regional representative for the Republic of Karakalpakstan held a meeting with members of the deceased’s family and expressed condolences. The deceased’s father remained by his son’s side at the Bo‘stonliq district medical association during 5 days.
