In particular, it was established that the rooms designated for short-term visits were in need of repair, while the “Ombudsman Boxes” installed within the colony did not comply with the requirements of the legislation.
In addition, relatives of inmates expressed dissatisfaction due to the insufficient number of rooms designated for long-term visits with their family members.
To address the identified shortcomings, the Ombudsman issued a formal warning to the Department for the Execution of Punishments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a measure of response.
Following the Ombudsman’s warning, all “Ombudsman Boxes” within the colony were reinstalled in accordance with the requirements of the legislation. Furthermore, repair works were carried out in the rooms designated for short-term visits, the existing conditions were improved, and the rooms were brought into compliance with the established requirements.
