In 2024, the number of fraud cases related to loan processing surged by 42%, according to the Ombudsman

In 2024, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Uzbekistan received over 6,000 complaints related to citizens' economic rights. 9% of these appeals are related to cases of fraud. There has been a significant increase in cases where loans were issued in the name of citizens without their consent by using their personal data. While 110 such complaints were registered in 2023, this figure grew by 42% in 2024.

A citizen turned to the Ombudsman with a request to restore his rights, as the calculation of his pension was incorrect. He noted that his pension amounted to 920,000 UZS; however, due to incomplete accounting of his salary, he was receiving significantly less than he was entitled to. Despite appeal to the Pension Department of the Zangiota District, his complaint were superficially reviewed and dismissed.
Conditions Improved in Several Closed Institutions in Bukhara Following Ombudsman’s Intervention

Following monitoring visits by the regional representative of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Bukhara region, deficiencies were identified in the regional “Muruvvat” Women's Boarding Home for Persons with Disabilities and the Men’s Boarding Home for Persons with Disabilities in Karakul District. Based on these findings, the Ombudsman submitted a formal recommendation to the relevant organizations for immediate rectification.
