The event was organized by the Ombudsman’s regional representative in Navoi region in cooperation with relevant agencies and organizations. Representatives of the regional department of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the regional health department, the Navoi regional department of internal affairs, the department of preschool and school education, the regional justice department, as well as representatives of the non-governmental non-profit organization “Istiqbolli avlod” were involved.
During the meeting, women’s appeals were heard by the Ombudsman’s regional representative in Navoi region and representatives of the relevant agencies, and targeted measures were determined for each case. In particular, 1 woman underwent a medical examination, an eye lens was implanted, and her vision was restored. The two children of another woman were placed in a multidisciplinary children’s hospital and necessary treatment was carried out. Health problems of another woman were identified, and a full medical examination and treatment were ensured.
Also, pre-investigation inquiry actions are being conducted on the appeals of 2 women whose rights were violated as a result of harassment and violence.
Another important issue raised at the initiative of the Ombudsman was the education and upbringing of children living in the shelter of the center. On this basis, the issue of involving 8 children aged 3 to 7 in preschool education was reviewed in accordance with the established procedure, and they were assigned to a non-governmental preschool educational organization for temporary education and upbringing.
Within the framework of the event, issues of strengthening mechanisms for providing legal assistance to women undergoing rehabilitation at the center and their minor children, as well as introducing additional measures for adapting women to society, were also discussed. In particular, approaches were defined to organize weekly spiritual and educational conversations, and to continue support for women at their place of residence after completing the rehabilitation program.
This event, initiated by the Ombudsman, was aimed not only at listening to the appeals of women affected by violence, but also at finding concrete solutions to issues related to their lives, health, legal protection, and the future of their children.
