Long-term visits between convicted persons and their family members were being held not within the institution’s premises but in private residential houses located in the “Chortok” mahalla. Due to the inadequate living conditions in these houses and the failure to meet sanitary and hygiene requirements, the construction of dedicated long-term visitation rooms was recommended.
According to the information provided to the Ombudsman, the Hokimiyat of Gulistan District of Syrdarya Region and the Department for the Execution of Sentences of the Ministry of Internal Affairs allocated the necessary financial resources. As a result, 11 modern long-term visitation rooms equipped with all essential facilities were constructed and commissioned on the territory of the colony-settlement.
