Appeals received from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Fergana, and Khorezm regions were studied, the most pressing issues for these territories were identified, and “Ombudsman School” events dedicated to these topics were held.
Residents of the “Gujimli,” “Berdak,” “Abat Makan,” “Shakhtemir,” “Karakol,” and “Doslik” mahallas of Chimbay district in the Republic of Karakalpakstan; the “Kildon,” “Sayiltepa,” and “Beshkuvi” mahallas of Bulungur district and the Muminhoja mahalla with its affiliated villages in Kattakurgan district of Samarkand region; the “Chinor,” “Navruz,” “Bandikhon,” “Bektepa,” “Obikor,” “Quduqsay,” and “Birdamlik” mahallas of Bandikhon district in Surkhandarya region; the “Qorik,” “Boymakhalla,” “Gulshan,” “Soybuyi,” “Yuqori Gulshan” mahallas of Vodil village and the “Tinchlik,” “Beruniy,” “Novkent,” “Dilkusho,” “Vodil” mahallas of Chimen village in Fergana district; the “Doshoq,” “Buston,” “Gulshan,” “Oq yop,” “Serchali,” “Al-Khorezmi” mahallas of Khiva district in Khorezm region; as well as the “Mahallot” and “Nakhshab” mahallas of Karshi city in Kashkadarya region took part in open dialogues aimed at enhancing legal awareness.
During the meetings, representatives of relevant institutions provided the population with legal explanations on preventing cybercrime and financial fraud, labor migration, labor relations, social services, and social assistance. In Kashkadarya region, citizens were also informed about preventing human trafficking and violations of human freedom and rights.
Within the framework of the events held in Samarkand region, free medical examinations were organized for the population, free medicines were distributed, and social assistance was provided to families in need.
“Ombudsman School” events were also held with the participation of students of Namangan State Technical University and Gulistan State Pedagogical Institute in Syrdarya region. At these meetings, students were briefed on the state youth policy and the opportunities created for them.
In total, more than 900 residents of 43 mahallas were covered by the “Ombudsman School” events. Moreover, within the framework of these events, regional representatives of the Ombudsman conducted mobile receptions where citizens’ appeals were accepted.
These events are primarily based on the analysis of citizens’ appeals and are conducted with the involvement of relevant organizations on issues that are particularly important for the local population. As a result, participants learn the procedure of which body to apply to regarding a particular issue and have the opportunity to immediately submit their appeal to the representatives of those institutions.
The unique feature of the “Ombudsman School” project is that it not only serves to raise legal awareness among the population but also makes it possible to receive citizens’ appeals on-site in remote areas, resolve issues with the involvement of relevant organizations and agencies, as well as organize medical examinations and provide social assistance to families in need.
