In 2024, 310 Convicts in Namangan Completed Vocational Training
As part of an initiative by the regional representative of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in the Namangan region, vocational training programs were organized for convicts in local correctional facilities. By the end of 2024, a total of 310 convicts serving sentences in Namangan had been trained in professions of their choice.

On December 20, 2024, a culinary competition was held among convicts at Penal Colony No. 6 in the Pap District of the Namangan region who had completed their training. The competition was organized at the initiative of the regional Ombudsman representative in coordination with the colony administration and in collaboration with the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, the Agency for Youth Affairs, and the Namangan Regional Society of Chefs (“Oshpazlar”).

During the competition, the convicts prepared national, Uyghur, and international dishes, as well as various salads. Winners of the competition were selected and included in the incentive list. Certificates were also awarded to 70 convicts who had completed a one-month training course.

Following the competition, the regional Ombudsman representative held both individual and group discussions with the convicts of the colony. On the same day, meetings were also held with individuals who had submitted appeals through the "Ombudsman’s Box."
