During the meeting, guest Fatma Aksal highly appreciated the work carried out in Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality and equal opportunities for women and men.
She also touched upon the work being done in Turkey to ensure gender equality and prevent violence against women.
During the conversation, Feruza Eshmatova spoke about the reforms being implemented in the country to ensure human rights and freedoms, as well as the main directions of the Development Strategy, which determines the development of Uzbekistan for the next five years, and focuses on human dignity.
Also, speaking about the activities of the Ombudsman in 2021, she noted that last year the Ombudsman received a total of 18,738 appeals from citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, citizens and Ombudsmen of foreign countries, stateless persons, public organizations and other legal entities, 42.9% of these requests came from women, and 52.6% from men.
At the end of the meeting, which was held in a constructive manner, issues of developing cooperation were discussed.
It should be noted that during the visit of the Ombudsman to the Republic of Turkey in November 2021, the Ombudsman also met with Fatma Aksal and exchanged experiences on gender equality issues.
