Around 8,400 senior students from 83 general education schools in Samarkand, as well as youth leaders from the Samarkand City Department of the Youth Affairs Agency, took part in the conference. The event provided students the opportunity to engage both in person and remotely.
The purpose of the event was to raise young people's legal culture and deepen their knowledge of human rights and freedoms, and to familiarize them with the activities, powers, and functions of the Ombudsman institution as the national human rights institution.
The conference emphasized that human rights are a fundamental basis for ensuring the dignity, freedom, and legitimate interests of every individual. Detailed explanations were given on the Ombudsman's work in protecting human rights and freedoms, in particular on how complaints are reviewed, analyzed, and resolved.
A representative of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs delivered a presentation titled "Youth Rights and the Digital Environment: Personal Data, Internet Safety, and the Right to Privacy." The presentation explained how important it is for young people to use the internet safely, protect their personal data, and know their rights in the digital environment.
During the discussion, specialists answered young people's questions on supporting youth initiatives in simple, accessible language.
At the close of the conference, participants noted the need to continue consistent work to strengthen the culture of human rights among young people, improve their legal knowledge, and develop their skills in protecting their legitimate interests.
