During the meeting, the participants discussed ensuring guarantees of human rights and freedoms at the legislative level, strengthening cooperation between Parliament and the Ombudsman, taking human rights standards into account in the law-making process, and exchanging experience.
The foreign guests were informed about the legislative reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years to uphold human dignity and protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as the ongoing work to improve parliamentary mechanisms for ensuring human rights.
The meeting emphasized the importance of continuing professional dialogue among parliaments, Ombudsman institutions and national human rights institutions, sharing and learning from best practices, and further improving legislative mechanisms aimed at protecting human rights.
