During the meeting, it was noted that the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan recognizes the human being as the highest value. The parties discussed the ongoing efforts and achievements in promoting and protecting human rights in Uzbekistan, as well as the role of the Ombudsman institution and its main areas of activity in these processes.

Johanna Maria Ågren emphasized that no country can consider itself to have resolved all human rights issues. According to her, although reforms in the field of gender equality began much earlier in Finland, work in this area continues consistently to this day. It was noted that the promotion and protection of human rights is a continuous process requiring constant learning, improvement and sustained efforts.

The Ambassador also highlighted the close relationship between human rights, the rule of law and economic development. In her view, a country where human rights are effectively protected and the rule of law is ensured creates an attractive environment for investment. In this regard, she welcomed Uzbekistan's accession process to the World Trade Organization.

The meeting also included discussions on the activities of the Ombudsman's regional representatives. The Ambassador expressed her interest in becoming more closely acquainted with their practical work.

The parties further discussed the "Ombudsman Hour" project implemented in general education schools and emphasized the importance of fostering respect for human rights and legal awareness among children from an early age.

The meeting also reviewed the current results of cooperation with the Finnish Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Rule of Law Centre at the University of Helsinki, and the parties exchanged views on the continuation of joint projects.
