Cooperation on Combating Gender-Based Violence Discussed

A meeting was held at the Office of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) with Fazilat Allayarova, Gender Adviser at the Asian Development Bank, and Malika Makhmudova, National Researcher on Gender-Based Violence.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the Asian Development Bank's technical assistance project "Strengthening Gender-Based Violence Response Mechanisms in Central and West Asia in the Post-COVID-19 Era."

The participants discussed ongoing efforts in Uzbekistan to protect women's rights, as well as the Ombudsman's activities aimed at safeguarding the rights and freedoms of women affected by violence. They also exchanged views on the "Equality and Respect" platform, cooperation with civil society organizations, and seminars and training programmes designed to enhance public legal awareness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties discussed future plans to strengthen cooperation in supporting women affected by violence, ensuring the protection of their rights, and further expanding collaboration in this area.
