The event, organized at the initiative of the Ombudsman, was attended by representatives of the institution of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the Department of Penitentiary Activities of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the Department for the Introduction of the Compliance Control System and Regulation of the Activities of Internal Control Units of the Anti-Corruption Agency, as well as the administration and staff of the Central Pre-Trial Detention Facility.

During the event, information was provided on the Ombudsman’s activities aimed at preventing torture, as well as on the essence and significance of international and national legal instruments adopted in this field. In particular, explanations were given regarding the requirements of the UN Convention against Torture and their reflection in national legislation.

The roundtable discussion focused on practical measures to prevent torture, including ensuring openness and transparency in the activities of law enforcement agencies, strengthening internal control mechanisms, increasing staff accountability, preventing corruption, and ensuring strict compliance with human rights standards in the course of official duties.

The event was held in an interactive format rich in questions, answers and discussions.
