During the monitoring visits, the conditions of dormitories, washing facilities, kitchens, medical units, storage facilities for food products and medicines, libraries, cultural and recreational facilities, telephone communication facilities, visiting rooms, search rooms, exercise yards, investigation rooms, lawyers’ meeting rooms, as well as the condition of video surveillance cameras were examined.
The monitoring visits revealed that deficiencies previously identified in certain institutions had been addressed. In particular, it was established that the rooms designated for detainees at Pre-Trial Detention Facility No. 11 in Urgench city had been renovated and equipped with the necessary furnishings.
At the same time, the need for further improvement of material and technical resources and security measures in certain institutions was noted. In particular, it was observed that the sobering-up station in Gurlan District had not been provided with the necessary computer equipment and air-conditioning system, and that no surveillance camera had been installed at the entrance to the facility.
During the monitoring process, appeals submitted through the “Ombudsman Box” were reviewed, and mobile receptions were conducted at the institutions to receive appeals from individuals.
