On January 5, the regional representative of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in the Bukhara region carried out a monitoring visit to the Department of Internal Affairs of Jondor District. During the visit, the detention room located in the duty unit of the district department was inspected.
Detention rooms for persons subjected to administrative detention, established in accordance with Order No. 250 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 10, 1998, are special premises of the duty units of city and district internal affairs bodies. These rooms are intended for the short-term placement of persons brought in for committing administrative offenses.
On January 6, a monitoring visit was also conducted to the Department of Internal Affairs of Gijduvan District, where the condition of the detention rooms in the duty unit of the district department was examined.
Based on the results of the monitoring, documents in the form of response measures will be submitted with regard to certain identified shortcomings.
