For people at liberty, cultural events may seem like an ordinary part of daily life. However, for those serving sentences, such meetings have immense spiritual significance. Convicts eagerly await each cultural event, as it represents attention to them, recognition of their human dignity, and acknowledgement of their continued importance to society.
Such events not only enrich the spiritual world of convicts but also contribute to improving their morale, strengthening their aspiration to return to social life, and inspiring them to make positive changes in their lives.
Along with this, the Ombudsman systematically carries out monitoring visits to study the provision of humane treatment and proper conditions for convicts. The next monitoring visit was conducted on 8 September in correctional colony No. 11.
During the monitoring visit, the conditions created for convicts in the colony were examined, including their living arrangements, leisure, labor activities, opportunities for short- and long-term visits with relatives, food provision, access to medical care, as well as compliance with sanitary and hygiene requirements.
In particular, the conditions of engaging convicts in labor with observance of safety standards were studied.
Moreover, as the visit coincided with lunchtime, the organization of meals for convicts engaged in labor was also inspected.
