The meeting aimed to introduce students to the Ombudsman’s activities and attract those interested in joining the "Ombudsman Club." It was noted that over the past three years, more than 180 applications for club membership had been received. Based on interviews, 60 students were selected to put their theoretical university knowledge into practice. At the end of the year, a tradition of awarding the most active club members with certificates of honor was introduced. Additionally, in 2023-2024, four club members were employed at the Secretariat of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman).
Members of the "Ombudsman Club" can work alongside Ombudsman specialists after classes, improving their skills in areas such as handling appeals, participating in receptions, and monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions.
The roundtable was filled with questions and answers, held in an open communication format. The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights, F. Eshmatova, and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan, S. Aliyeva, provided detailed responses to students' questions. They also exchanged views on human rights protection issues and solutions. This roundtable provided participants with valuable information about the Ombudsmen’s competencies, the appeals they receive, and human rights protection from both international and national perspectives.
At the end of the event, two students who actively participated in the "Ombudsman Club" received membership cards, letters of appreciation, and commemorative gifts.
