Ombudsman School: Open Dialogues Held in Regions on Issues Raised in Citizens’ Appeals
Within the framework of the “Ombudsman School” project aimed at increasing public legal awareness and implemented at the initiative of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (ombudsman), a number of events are being held across the regions. A distinctive feature of the project is that it provides direct dialogue with citizens, while their appeals are considered during mobile receptions with the participation of representatives of relevant organizations.

The next open dialogues were held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Bukhara, Fergana, Samarkand and Tashkent regions. Prior to the events, citizens’ appeals were analysed, the most pressing issues for each region were identified, and representatives of responsible institutions were involved.

More than 1,000 citizens participated in the events. In particular, residents of the “Loyish”, “Mustaqillik”, “Navruz”, “Yangiobod”, “Uzbekiston”, “Oqdaryo”, “Temirak”, “Bobur” and “Zarafshon” mahallas of Akdarya district in Samarkand region, the “Naymankol”, “Saraykol” and “Keneges” mahallas of Takhiatash district in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as residents of the “Muminobod”, “Mitan”, “Navoiy” and “Birlik” mahallas of Piskent district in Tashkent region and other areas took part in the meetings.

During the meetings, participants received explanations on preventing cybercrime and financial fraud, legal procedures related to labour relations and labour migration, as well as other relevant issues.

Following the open dialogues, mobile receptions of the Ombudsman’s regional representatives were held, during which citizens’ appeals were received.

In addition, events within the framework of the “Ombudsman School” project were also organized at Bukhara State University in the city of Bukhara, at Technical Colleges No. 1 and No. 2 in Uchkuprik district of Fergana region, at the Technical College of Khojaabad district in Andijan region, and at Technical College No. 3 in the city of Almalyk, Tashkent region.

During these meetings, students were informed about the state policy on youth, the opportunities created for them, and the legal guarantees provided.
