Ombudsman meets with Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova, as part of her official trip, is taking part in a number of events and important meetings organised at the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations.

On 3 September 2024 in New York, the Ombudsman met with Dane Keita, Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

At the beginning of the conversation, UNFPA Deputy Executive Director Dane Kate congratulated on the 33rd anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, recognising the depth and scale of reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, positively assessing the results of the work carried out to ensure human rights, including gender equality, social support for the population, youth, protection of women from domestic violence, saying that she is following these reforms.

On 14 February this year, the Ombudsman met with the newly appointed head of the UN Population Fund office, Nigina Abaszadeh, where plans for cooperation were outlined. In conversation with UNFPA Deputy Executive Director Dane Keita, she expressed interest in implementing these plans and strengthening mutual co-operation.

At the meetings, which were held in a cordial and friendly spirit, directions for future co-operation were identified.

The Ombudsman also took part in the ceremonial raising of the national flag of Uzbekistan on Wall Street, the historic, cultural and financial centre of New York, on the day of the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
