Discussion held in Navoi Region on combating human trafficking and decent work
On 26 October 2026, a meeting of the Territorial Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work was held in Navoi Region to review the results of its activities during the first nine months of 2026 and identify priority tasks for the coming period.

The meeting was attended by Feruza Eshmatova, member of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work and Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), members of the Territorial Commission, representatives of law enforcement agencies, state and civil society organisations, and the mass media.

The participants reviewed measures taken to prevent human trafficking and forced labour, safeguard citizens’ labour rights, promote safe labour migration, and ensure the protection and social rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking. Reports from the responsible organisations were heard, and existing challenges and proposals for addressing them were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the additional measures envisaged by the Presidential Decree of 3 August 2026, “On Additional Measures Aimed at Fundamentally Improving the System for Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking and Their Integration into Society.” The Decree provides for new mechanisms to facilitate the early identification of victims, assess their needs, and refer them to the necessary social services.

According to the report presented at the meeting, eight victims of human trafficking were identified in Navoi Region during the first nine months of 2026. All of them were women, including two minors. All eight underwent medical examinations, three were placed in a rehabilitation centre, and one was provided with employment.

The meeting also focused on raising public awareness of modern forms of human trafficking. Particular emphasis was placed on warning the public about fraudulent job offers circulated through social media and online platforms, as well as deceptive schemes involving promises of highly paid employment abroad.
