Uzbekistan and Thailand signed memorandum of cooperation between Ombudsman Institutions
A bilateral meeting was held between the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and the Chief Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Thailand on the sidelines of an international event taking place in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

The meeting addressed issues related to the protection of human rights and freedoms, safeguarding the legitimate interests of citizens, enhancing the effectiveness of ombudsman institutions, and elevating bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Following the discussions, the parties signed a memorandum aimed at strengthening cooperation in the areas of human rights and freedoms protection and the promotion of effective governance.

The document provides for the development of cooperation between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries in exchanging experience and information, improving mechanisms for protecting the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as raising public legal awareness.

Within the framework of the memorandum, particular attention will be paid to studying best practices in handling citizens’ complaints, exchanging analytical and informational materials on the implementation of international human rights standards and national legislation, organising joint seminars and events, enhancing the professional skills of specialists, and cooperating in research activities.

The memorandum also envisages expanding cooperation within international and regional ombudsman organisations, studying reforms and best practices in the field of human rights protection, and promoting the mutual exchange of experience.

It is worth noting that the memorandum will contribute to strengthening institutional ties between the ombudsman institutions of Uzbekistan and Thailand, improving effective mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and consistently advancing cooperation to safeguard the rights and freedoms of citizens.
