In particular, during the meeting with Georgios Katrougalos, UN Independent Expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order, Professor of Public Law at the Democritus University of Thrace and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, the parties discussed international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, professional dialogue between national institutions and the exchange of experience.

During the meeting with Ayesha Hamid, Ombudsperson of Punjab, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, First Vice-President of the International Ombudsman Institute and Regional President for Asia, particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation between Ombudsman institutions, practices in handling citizens’ appeals, and further developing ties within the framework of the International Ombudsman Institute.

At the meeting with Shri Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of India and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, the parties exchanged views on the role of national human rights institutions in ensuring human rights, their institutional capacity and prospects for mutual cooperation.

During the meetings, the parties considered opportunities for mutual learning from best practices in the field of human rights protection, strengthening professional ties and implementing joint initiatives in the future.
