The primary purpose of these visits is to assess compliance with the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens abroad, hear their appeals, and facilitate the provision of necessary legal assistance.

On 15 May this year, members of the Uzbek delegation, at the initiative of the Ombudsman, visited the pre-trial detention centre in Minsk, where they met with Uzbek citizens held at the facility.

During the meeting, one Uzbek citizen informed the delegation that she was pregnant. She explained that after giving birth, her ability to provide adequate care for the child within the detention facility would be limited and expressed her wish for the child to be placed in the care of close relatives in Uzbekistan. She therefore requested practical assistance in arranging the child's return to Uzbekistan after birth and transfer to the custody of her close relatives in accordance with the established procedures.

The appeal was placed under the Ombudsman's supervision. Following the child's birth, the necessary legal and consular procedures were carried out in cooperation with the relevant state authorities, the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus, and the CIS Commission on Human Rights.

As a result, all required documents for the child's return to Uzbekistan were completed. In July this year, the child was transferred into the care of close relatives and brought to Uzbekistan.

This case demonstrates the practical results of the timely consideration of citizens' appeals, ensuring the best interests of the child, and effective cooperation between state authorities and international partners in the protection of human rights.
