The event brought together Ombudspersons of Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of relevant state bodies. Representatives of India participated online.
The participants discussed issues related to the exchange of experience among national human rights institutions of the SCO member states, the development of professional cooperation, and the improvement of human rights protection mechanisms.
In her speech, the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Feruza Eshmatova, noted that this dialogue platform creates important opportunities for expanding practical cooperation and exchanging best practices among institutions directly engaged in the protection of human rights and freedoms in the SCO member states.
The Uzbek side also put forward proposals on establishing regular dialogue among national human rights institutions, developing mechanisms for prompt information exchange, conducting joint expert activities, and consistently strengthening cooperation in the field of human rights within the SCO framework.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants signed the Final Protocol aimed at further strengthening cooperation in the field of human rights.
The Consultative Council meeting is regarded as an important step toward establishing a platform for regular professional dialogue and exchange of experience in the field of human rights within the SCO framework.
