Amendments are being introduced to the Law “On Detention During Criminal Proceedings”, providing persons held in pre-trial detention facilities with the right to at least two hours of outdoor exercise on weekends and non-working public holidays, as well as additional clothing and footwear. The amendments also envisage increasing the amount of money allocated to detainees for the purchase of food products and essential items up to one minimum wage amount.
It should be noted that this legislative initiative was developed by the Ombudsman and the Public Groups operating under the Ombudsman and was submitted to the Legislative Chamber.
The introduced amendments are aimed at ensuring the daily needs of persons held in custody, further improving the conditions created for them, and strengthening human rights guarantees.
