“Ombudsman Hour”: Open Dialogues on Rights and Responsibilities Held in Schools
When knowledge of human rights is formed from school years, young people develop not only an understanding of their own rights but also a culture of respecting the rights of others. For this purpose, “Ombudsman Hour” classes are being organized across the country for students of general education schools.

The latest sessions were conducted by regional representatives of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Andijan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Namangan, Navoi, and Samarkand regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent. More than 1,200 students participated.

The sessions were organized in School No. 31 and No. 43 in Andijan city (Andijan region), School No. 33 in Yangibazar district (Khorezm region), Schools No. 36 and No. 38 in Urgench district, School No. 83 in Mirabad district, School No. 59 in Shaykhantakhur district, School No. 135 in Yakkasaray district of Tashkent city, Schools No. 23, No. 60 and No. 90 in Yakkabog district (Kashkadarya region), School No. 5 in Mirzaabad district (Syrdarya region), Schools No. 14, No. 38 and No. 47 in Mingbulak district (Namangan region), Schools No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 in Navbahor district (Navoi region), School No. 72 in Pastdargom district, and Schools No. 30 and No. 1 in Ishtikhan district (Samarkand region).

The sessions were conducted not in a traditional lecture format but using interactive methods, video materials, open dialogue with students, and real-life examples. The discussions covered the rights of children and youth, personal integrity, the right to education, concepts of duty and responsibility, as well as protection in the digital environment, prevention of cyberbullying, safe use of the internet, and the activities of national human rights institutions.

During the sessions, students, through various case studies, developed practical skills in analyzing legal situations, choosing appropriate actions in challenging circumstances, and learned which institutions they can обратиться to in case their rights are violated.
