Regional Representatives Presented Reports to Local Councils on the State of Human Rights Protection
In accordance with Article 43 of the Law “On the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman)”, the Ombudsman’s regional representatives annually, in coordination with the Ombudsman, submit reports on the state of protection of human rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests in their respective territories to the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as to regional and Tashkent City Councils of People’s Deputies.

In implementation of this legal requirement, relevant reports were presented by regional representatives of the Ombudsman at the sessions of the Councils of People’s Deputies of Navoi, Bukhara, and Fergana regions.

In particular, Shukhrat Juraev, regional representative of the Ombudsman in Navoi region, delivered a report at the Navoi Regional Council; Abira Khuseynova, regional representative in Bukhara region, at the Bukhara Regional Council; and Alisher Kamilov, regional representative in Fergana region, at the Fergana Regional Council.

The reports included analysis of appeals received by regional representatives, key issues raised therein, measures taken to restore citizens’ rights, as well as response measures introduced following monitoring visits to closed institutions where persons with restricted freedom of movement are held, and the status of their implementation. Particular attention was also given to enhancing legal awareness, conducting open dialogues and outreach receptions in remote areas, and improving inter-agency cooperation.

The consideration of these reports at local council sessions contributes to strengthening human rights protection at the regional level, analyzing systemic issues raised in appeals, and enhancing cooperation with local government authorities in addressing them.
