This high-level event is being held at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
According to the official programme, the meeting includes sessions of the GANHRI Bureau, the General Assembly, meetings of the four regional networks of national human rights institutions, as well as an annual conference dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights in the digital space.
The visit programme also предусматривает bilateral meetings with representatives of international organizations and ombudspersons of foreign countries. In particular, meetings are scheduled with representatives of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the GANHRI Secretariat, as well as the Geneva Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
In addition, a side event initiated by Uzbekistan is planned on the topic:
“Protecting Human Rights in the Digital Space: Experiences and Best Practices of National Human Rights Institutions.”
The Ombudsman’s participation in these prestigious events serves to present to the international community the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of human rights, to demonstrate national approaches to human rights protection in the context of digital transformation, and to study advanced international practices.
It should be noted that in 2020, the activities of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) were accredited by GANHRI for compliance with the Paris Principles and were granted “B status.” Measures are currently underway to obtain “A status.”
