On the first day of the visit, the Ombudsman met with citizens of Uzbekistan at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Moscow. It should be noted that this meeting was organized to develop practical solutions to the issues faced by our compatriots.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, and her team, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia — the Department for External Labor Migration, Permits and Visas.
During the discussion, our compatriots raised legal and social issues, including employment conditions for temporary workers, labor relations, residence registration (propiska), and access to school education for their children.
In the course of the meeting, specific tasks for resolving citizens’ appeals were defined jointly with the partners, and practical steps were initiated to address them.
It should be recalled that on July 30 of this year, the Commissioners for Human Rights of Uzbekistan and Russia signed a “Roadmap” for cooperation for 2025–2026. The document outlines joint consideration of citizens’ appeals in the field of human rights protection, joint monitoring activities, raising legal awareness among migrants, and expanding cooperation at the national and international levels. This meeting was held precisely within the framework of implementing the objectives set out in the “Roadmap.”
