On 27 February 2026, the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), Feruza Eshmatova, conducted a regular reception of citizens. During the reception, more than 30 citizens submitted their appeals.
On 25 February of the current year, a joint meeting of the Senate Committees on Science, Education and Healthcare; on Budget and Economic Issues; and on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments and Tourism was held.
Within the framework of the “Ombudsman School” project, Commissioner of Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (ombudsman) is organizing a series of events aimed at increasing the legal awareness of the population. Notably, as part of the project, mobile receptions are also being held, and measures are being taken to resolve citizens’ appeals with the participation of relevant agencies.
At a regular plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies considered the issue of electing the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (ombudsman).
On February 23, 2026, master’s students of the “International Human Rights Law” program of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the building of the Office of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (ombudsman).
On 23 February 2026, a roundtable discussion titled “Cooperation between the Ombudsman and State Institutions in Enhancing Legal Culture” was held in the city of Kattakurgan, Samarkand region. The event was organized in cooperation with the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Regional representatives of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Bukhara, Andijan, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, Navoi, Namangan, and Tashkent regions studied citizens’ appeals by visiting the locations.
On 20 February 2026, at a regular meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Budget and Economic Issues, the report of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) on activities carried out in 2025 was preliminarily reviewed.
In 2007, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, 20 February was proclaimed the World Day of Social Justice. Since 2009, this date has been observed worldwide.
