Ombudsman visited Samarkand region and studied the issue of human rights protection

Ombudsman visited the Bukhara region to study the state of human rights

An expert group headed by the Authorized Person for Human Rights of the Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman) visited the Bukhara region on March 25-27 this year to study the implementation of the tasks assigned to the Authorized Person for Human Rights in the President's Address to the Oliy Majlis, as well as to study the state of human rights in the regions. The Ombudsman, together with representatives of the public and the media, began monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions to prevent torture.

The expert group on the prevention of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment within the framework of the National Preventive Mechanism under the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) has been monitoring since 2019. Thanks to this, parliamentary and public control over the observance of human rights in penitentiary institutions, pre-trial detention centers and other closed institutions is established.
