As is known, in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to improve the system for detecting and preventing cases of torture” dated June 26, 2021, the Ombudsman and his public groups for the detection and prevention torture should conduct monitoring visits to guardhouses, special reception centers, temporary detention centers, pre-trial detention centers, penitentiary institutions, disciplinary units and medical institutions of compulsory treatment in order to prevent cases of torture.

On 6 December this year the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for human rights jointly with the Project Coordinator of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Uzbekistan organized a Round table on the theme: "Improving the legislative basis of the Ombudsman’s activities in ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens" timed to the 29th anniversary of the adoption of the  Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and World Human Rights day.

On October 29, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan held a regional conference on "Protection of human rights in Central Asia during the COVID-19 pandemic". The event was attended by representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations working to protect human rights in Central Asia, as well as international experts.

On October 28 this year First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, Director of National Human Rights Centre, Akmal Saidov and the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova took part in the VI meeting of Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance as observers. During the talks, the participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences on the theme "International exchange of best practices on topical issues of youth protection in the Eurasian region".
