The main purpose of the visit, organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland was to familiarize with the activities of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman, who has decades of experience, study best practices in the field of human rights, exchange of experience, and strengthen international cooperation.
The delegation included staff members of the Ombudsman, representatives of partner organizations, and members of the public group under the Ombudsman.
During the meeting, the delegation was provided with detailed information on the mandate, structure, and methods of handling complaints of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman. A presentation was given on the process of managing complaints through an electronic system. The sides also exchanged views on cooperation with civil society in reviewing complaints.
Within the framework of the visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ombudsmen of Uzbekistan and Denmark. The document outlines measures aimed at exchanging experience, improving the activities of the national preventive mechanism, and developing cooperation in the field of human rights protection.
Members of the delegation also had the opportunity to study innovative approaches being implemented in the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman system.

Established in 1954, it operates as an independent body of parliament overseeing the activities of state institutions. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman. Acquaintance with this long-standing experience holds particular significance for the Ombudsman of Uzbekistan.
