Did the disabled father and his only caregiver receive social assistance? The circumstances were clarified by the employees of the Ombudsman
A citizen living in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region applied to the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) for material and social assistance due to a difficult family situation. In her appeal, she noted that she appealed to the responsible organizations, but there was no result.

In the statement, she also indicated that she was 20 years old and that she became the sole guardian of her father after the death of her mother. Also, the girl's father cannot work, as he has lost both arms and cannot move independently due to blindness.

To consider this appeal, a working group was formed with the participation of employees of the Ombudsman's Secretariat and the chairman of the makhalla "Tinchlik".

Having arrived at the place of residence of applicant K.U., the members of the working group discovered that there were two small rooms in which there were absolutely no conditions for living and that there was no way to heat the premises. In addition, it turned out that because of the family's debts, the gas was turned off in the house.

The citizen said that she worked in another country and sent money while her mother was alive. With this money, they began to build a new house, but after the death of her mother, the girl returned to her homeland to take care of her father, and the construction work remained unfinished. Currently, the girl makes a living by growing vegetables and herbs in her garden and selling them. The applicant is concerned about her father's poor health due to the cold on rainy days and has sought government assistance in order to obtain heated housing on cold days.

It is known that in recent years the country has been carrying out large-scale work to form an effective system of state support for the population in need of social protection. In particular, the new Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 defines a number of social protection policy objectives aimed at improving human dignity. In addition, women, youth and the disabled who need help are included in the Iron Notebook, Youth Notebook and Women's Notebook, and it is determined that they will be provided with targeted assistance.

Based on the results of studying this appeal, on October 25, 2022, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) applied to the khokimiyat of the Tashkent region with a request to provide the applicant with material and social assistance to improve her living conditions.
