“Ombudsman School”: raising public legal awareness on issues highlighted in appeals

As is known, in order to strengthen open and effective dialogue between the population and state bodies, as well as to increase citizens’ legal literacy, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis has been conducting “Ombudsman School” events across the country. Importantly, within the framework of this project, mobile receptions are also held, during which citizens’ appeals are addressed with the participation of relevant authorities.

On 17 November 2025, the factions of the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the Adolat Social Democratic Party, and the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis discussed a draft law—developed by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) and submitted to the Legislative Chamber under the right of legislative initiative—on amending the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Detention during Criminal Proceedings.”

On 13–14 November 2025, an international academic conference titled “Protector of Citizens – Twenty Years of Activity” was held in Belgrade. The event was organized at the initiative of the Protector of Citizens of the Republic of Serbia (Ombudsman) and brought together ombudsmen from various European and Asian countries, international experts, as well as representatives of academic circles.
