Members of the delegation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the OSCE visited Nukus

On 12 November 2023, within their visit to Uzbekistan, members of a delegation led by Matteo Mecacci, Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)visited Nukus. During the trip, they also went to see the office of the Regional Representative of the Ombudsman in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

It should be noted that, by theDecree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as of 10 September, 2021 “On measures to improve the work of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman)”, regional representatives of the Ombudsman began to work on a permanent basis across the regions and their main tasks were defined.

The Regional Representative of the Ombudsman in the Republic of Karakalpakstaninformed the guests about his activities and responded to all their questions.
