The project “School of the Ombudsman” was launched. The first training was held in Bukhara
On May 31, 2022, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) organized an event as part of the Ombudsman School project for citizens of the Vobkent district of the Bukhara region.

It should be noted that the analysis of citizens' appeals to the Ombudsman showed that the population is not aware of the ongoing reforms in the country to ensure human rights and interests, in particular, the rights and benefits for women, youth, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Based on the foregoing, the Ombudsman Institute analyzed the appeals by regions and selected the areas necessary to increase the legal awareness of the population.

The purpose of the implementation of the Ombudsman School project is to raise awareness of the population about fundamental changes in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms in our country.

The first event "School of the Ombudsman", organized for activists of the mahalla "Istiklol" of the Vobkent district of the Bukhara region, was organized at school number 2.

Speaking at the event, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) FeruzaEshmatova noted that representatives of the relevant state bodies, civil society institutions and NGO, as well as employees of the media will be involved in the events held within the framework of the "School of the Ombudsman".

- During the dialogue, the legal culture of the population will be improved in terms of the procedure for submitting and considering justified appeals to the competent state bodies operating in selected areas and issues. This will contribute to the establishment of constructive ties between the state body and the population in providing practical and targeted assistance to citizens.

Ombudsman schools are regularly organized by the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights and his regional representatives in regions throughout the country, within which questions and proposals of citizens will be studied and analyzed.

The first event aimed at raising the legal awareness of the population was devoted to health care. At it, the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elmira Basitkhanova informed citizens about the ongoing reforms in the healthcare system, the conveniences and benefits created for the population, the right of citizens to use guaranteed medical services and the content of the adopted regulatory legal acts.

Also, the participants of the event received useful information from the speech of the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family and Women, NadiraEgamberdiyeva, on the topic “The importance of gender equality and family issues in enhancing the role of women in society: the conditions created, opportunities and benefits.”

After that, the Regional Representative of the Ombudsman in the Bukhara region, AbiraHuseynova, informed citizens about the work with appeals and monitoring visits to closed institutions. She also touched upon the procedure for contacting the Regional Representative of the Ombudsman.

At the event, which was held in the spirit of mutual response and free dialogue, proposals were also received on those areas that need to be raised in the next schools of the Ombudsman.

On the same day, a reception of citizens was organized with the participation of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and her Regional Representative in Bukhara.

Speaking at the event, the chairmen of the mahalla also drew attention to the importance of measures aimed at increasing the legal awareness of the population in ensuring human rights. They also expressed their readiness to cooperate with the Ombudsman in holding such events.
