The VII meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance was held
On November 15, 2022, The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova took part in the VII meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance in Moscow. At this meeting, the participants exchanged views on legal propaganda, which is one of the main areas for ensuring human rights.

The meeting of the Alliance was attended by the Ombudsmen of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Serbia, Mongolia and Armenia, heads of national human rights institutions, representatives of international organizations and public authorities, the human rights community.

The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) F. Eshmatova also took part in the meeting with her speech. In her speech, she emphasized that since this year, the “Ombudsman School” project has been implemented in mahallas across the republic, aimed at raising the legal awareness of the population. At the same time, the ombudsman's institution analyzed appeals by region and identified areas in which it is necessary to increase the legal awareness of the population. “The purpose of the implementation of this project is to increase the awareness of the population about the fundamental changes in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms in our country,” the Ombudsman noted.

It should be mentioned that the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance is the first Union that unites the efforts of human rights defenders in the region. This organization ensures mutual cooperation of the ombudsmen of the countries of Eurasia and allows you to quickly resolve problematic issues of citizens of their countries abroad.

Based on the results of the VII meeting of the EOA, issues related to the strengthening of legal propaganda as an important direction in ensuring human rights and freedoms in the Eurasian region were discussed and appropriate proposals were developed.
